The Giraffe Centre is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya), a Kenyan non-profit organization. Their main purpose is to educate children and youth on Kenya's wildlife and environment, as well as give local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species, the giraffe.

They are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily and you can pay at the gate.

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) is the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world and one of the pioneering conservation organizations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa. Orphan rescue involves rapid response to remote areas of Kenya. A rescue team is flown in by charter and the elephants are then transported by ground back to the Nairobi Nursery.

Every day, from 11am - 12 noon, they invite visitors to book a space to join the orphaned elephants at their midday mud bath and milk feed at our orphanage in Nairobi National Park. Access for this special visit is by advance booking only.

The Karen Blixen Museum and Kazuri Beads are two popular, close-by Nairobi attractions in the Karen area, offering a mix of history and culture: the museum showcases the life of the Out of Africa author amidst stunning Ngong Hills views, while Kazuri Beads is a vibrant workshop employing local women to craft beautiful, hand-painted ceramic jewelry, providing a chance to see the creation process and buy unique souvenirs. Karura Forest is a large, protected urban forest in Nairobi, Kenya, offering a vital green space for nature lovers with hiking/jogging trails, waterfalls, caves, and diverse wildlife like monkeys, duikers, and birds, managed collaboratively by Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Friends of Karura Forest (FKF), promoting conservation and recreation against development threats.

Activities: Walking, jogging, cycling, dog walking (with permit), picnics, bird watching, exploring waterfalls, and caves (like Mau Mau caves).

Wildlife: Home to over 200 bird species, mammals (bushbucks, monkeys, porcupines, genets), reptiles, and butterflies.

Bomas of Kenya Ltd was established in 1971. It was established to preserve, showcase and promote the rich and diverse cultures of various ethnic groups of Kenya and to act as a tourist attraction center. As the only national body with a mandate in cultural tourism, the institution is expected to preserve the authenticity of Kenya’s cultures and to portray them in their pure form. As such, Bomas of Kenya is instrumental for the safeguarding of Kenyan cultural heritage and many of the institution’s partners across sectors rely on its guidance, consultation and advocacy efforts.

Nairobi National Park is an excellent park for nature lovers with a wide variety of flora and fauna and beautiful landscapes, all in their natural settings. It is within a capital city, the only natural park in a city anywhere in the world, only a few minutes drive from the city centre. Here you get to see many wild animals, including four of the "Big Five", with only the elephant missing. The wide variety of habitats within the park ensures that this unique ecosystem supports many species of plants and wildlife. On a lucky day, some animals that you may get to spot include Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, Serval cats, White Rhinos, Black Rhinos, Impalas, Hartebeest, African Buffalos, Masai Giraffes, Common Ostriches, Nile Crocodiles, amongst many other animals and hundreds of bird species. Nairobi National Park has a significant rhino population, with recent figures (mid-2025) showing around 175 rhinos total, including approximately 126 black rhinos and 49 white rhinos, making it a key conservation site, though exceeding its ideal carrying capacity and leading to translocation efforts. Tours can be done for half a day or a whole day depending on what you are looking for.
